Uncover some of the ambiguous and forgotten stories of the Second World War Kiev Fortified Region. Visiting the pillboxes, riding along the deserted paths and breathing the resinous smell of pine trees is our plan for a great weekend. Come on!
This trip reminds a small quest. Ride through the forest peering into the dense woodland and try to find the remains of the military installations. Built into the Serpent's Walls, flooded in the lake, blown up and overgrown with moss, these silent witnesses of the War hid in the thick of the forest. "Resistant", "Persistent", "Relentless", "Rebellious" - all names speak for themselves. Visit Pillbox 186 made into a museum by the volunteers of the Citadel International Association of Fortification Researchers. Here you can see the unique exhibits, the restored part of the pillboxes, the weaponry of those times and a well-preserved Maxim machine gun in a fully operable state. Learn about the construction of Kiev Fortified Region and its role in the defense of Kiev.
