Day 4: 3 сastles near Lviv

At 08:00 a.m. we are going back to Lviv, watching the most beautiful castles in this region (313 km).

What we will visit:

Zolochiv castle. The building belongs to a new-Dutch type of defensive structures and can be referred to monuments of the "palazzo in fortezza" type − in other words, it combines the functions of defense and housing. There is also Chinese palace at the territory, which presents the Oriental art. The stones with encrypted inscriptions also kindle tourist’s great interest. It is believed that the inscriptions were made by the Templars. They say that the wishes may be granted here.

The castle in Zolochiv also acts as the Lviv Art Gallery’s department, so you will have a great opportunity to explore the castle’s interior and exposition area.

Pidhoretskyi Castle is one of the most beautiful Renaissance palaces in Europe. The castle is currently closed for restoration work, therefore only surrounding areas − a foreside and the St. Joseph’s Exaltation Church are accessible for inspection (it is possible to inspect the interior of the Church). This roman catholic church was built on Vaclav Pjotr Zhevusky’s order in 1752-1766 as a family grave.

The castle attracts tourists not only by its architecture but also by mystical stories about the ghost of a woman (she is called "White Lady" here) who’s wandering around the castle.

Olesky castle is considered one of the oldest fortresses in Ukraine of the times of Kyivska Rus. The first historical mention about this castle dates back to 1327. The castle’s walls have been preserving their unique history, royal secrets and fascinating legends for years. The future king of Poland − Jan III Sobieski was born here; during his reign a castle received the status of royal residence. During the tour, you will have an opportunity to explore the castle’s interiors, where more than 1500 exhibit items are stored (holy icons, sculptures, authentic furniture of the 17th-18th centuries, a collection of works by the world-famous sculptor Ivan Pinzel and many other valuable historical artifacts).
